Stochastic Modelling for Network-Based GPS Positioning
نویسندگان
چکیده
Over the past few years the concept of network-based positioning has been developed in support of longer baseline processing compared with 'traditional' single reference station positioning. In fact network-based positioning enables the generation of so-called ‘virtual measurements’ which can significantly improve positioning results. Even though the virtual measurements are generated from the stochastic network estimates, their propagation into the user position solution has not been investigated in any detail. The aim is to understand how the unique stochastic properties of the network corrections propagate into the uncertainties of the estimated parameters. A better understanding of the stochastic properties of this virtual measurement will make the estimation result more realistic and hence ensure faster and more reliable ambiguity resolution.

Online Stochastic Modelling for Network-Based GPS Real-Time Kinematic Positioning
Baseline length-dependent errors in GPS RTK positioning, such as orbit uncertainty, and atmospheric effects, constrain the applicable baseline length between reference and mobile user receiver to perhaps 10-15km. This constraint has led to the development of network-based RTK techniques to model such distance-dependent errors. Although these errors can be effectively mitigated by network-based ...
متن کاملA Stochastic Modelling Method for Network- Based GPS Positioning
Over the past few years the network-based GPS surveying technique has been widely discussed. The main advantage of the network-based technique is that the distance-dependent errors (i.e, residual atmospheric biases and orbit error effects) can be reduced and the performance of conventional single reference station, carrier phase-based techniques can be extended over longer baselines. However, e...
متن کاملAnalysis of residual atmospheric delay in the low latitude regions using network-based GPS positioning
The atmosphere in low latitude regions is of particular interest to GPS researchers because the propagation of GPS signals becomes significantly delayed compared with other regions of the world. Hence this limits GPS positioning accuracy in equatorial regions. Although the atmospheric delay can be modelled, a residual component will still remain. Reducing, or mitigating the effect of residual a...
متن کاملModelling residual systematic errors in GPS positioning: Methodologies and comparative studies
Since its introduction to civilian users in the early 1980's, the Global Positioning System (GPS) has been playing an increasingly important role in high precision surveying and geodetic applications. Like traditional geodetic network adjustment, data processing for precise GPS static positioning is invariably performed using the least squares method. To employ the least squares method for GPS ...
متن کاملStochastic Assessment of GPS Carrier Phase Measurements for Precise Static Relative Positioning
Global Positioning System (GPS) carrier phase measurements are used in all precise static relative positioning applications. The GPS carrier phase measurements are generally processed using the least-squares method, for which both functional and stochastic models need to be carefully defined. Whilst the functional model for precise GPS positioning is well documented in the literature, realistic...
